Last weekend, a passionate group of Ottawa Irish women hit the road to represent the club at the John Jones 7’s tournament, in Ste-Julie, Qc.
While having to gel rapidly and at times recruit players from other clubs, the ladies played their hearts out and competed against experienced, and at times physically imposing sides such as St-Anne de Bellevue and Rugby Club de Montreal.
One of the highlights of the day was a complete performance vs. the Nomades de Laval, resulting in a 17-0 win in their final round robin match.
Playoffs kicked off with the Irish taking on the highly skilled and disciplined Ormstown Saracens. Unfortunately, our green and gold side came up short and lost to a side who would go on to win the championship.

A big congratulations goes out to all the players who traveled to Montreal for the tournament, and a special mention goes to the woman of the tournament, Pam Buisa, a U-16 player who used the tournament as preparation for her Jr. Canadian team trial on Thanksgiving weekend.
Well done ladies!
