On a hot and sunny Sunday (Aug 18) at Twin Elm Rugby Park, our junior girls went on to defeat their opponents in spectacular fashion, to take the EORU 2013 U18 Championship title! The girls played relentless and stunning rugby, to dominate their opponents with two grand wins:
semi-final: Ottawa Irish (17) vs Kingston (0)
final: Ottawa Irish (19) vs Brockville (7)
Outstanding Irish players on the day were Pam Buisa, Ingrid Krausbar, Jessica Joubarne, and Erin McCallan.
Following their EORU victory, the girls continued on to play in the all-Ontario ORU Provincials in Toronto on Sunday Aug 25th. The girls fought hard, holding their opponents to a narrow margin on the scoreboard. Although a defense force to be reckoned with, our girls narrowly lost to the other Ontario top teams, but still came home with the bronze medal for their valiant effort:
game#1: Peterborough (5) vs Highland (0)
game#2: Highland (22) vs Irish (20)
game#3: Peterborough (10) vs Irish (5)
Irish outstanding players on the day were Pam Buisa, Ingrid Krausbar, Renee Hoyt, and Erin McCallan.
Congratulations again to all our OIRC junior girls for a thrilling season! And a big thank to all our jr girl coaching and support staff, who made this a memorable season for the girls. Especial big thank you to head coach Bill Foster who lead our girls to victory in the EORU league this season. We look forward to seeing you all next year!
